Pumpkin Festival is Around the Corner!

OCTOBER 26, 2024

We’re so excited that the NH Pumpkin Festival is right around the corner! Come visit us and our Stand Up Sachems student group on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the NH Pumpkin Festival! We’ll be in the Nonprofit Patch on Pleasant Street in Downtown Laconia. Come see how we’re raising awareness for Red Ribbon Week and Drug Take Back Day!

WHAT IS RED RIBBON WEEK?

Red Ribbon Week Red Ribbon Week is celebrated between October 23 - 31st this year. This important event raises awareness about drug prevention and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among our students and community. This national campaign began in 1985 by the DEA to promote awareness around the dangers of drug use. It’s a time for us to come together and encourage our children to make healthy choices.

By participating in Red Ribbon Week, we can help empower our students to make informed choices and cultivate a supportive environment where they feel safe and valued. Together, we can foster a culture of respect and health that extends beyond our school walls.

WHAT IS DRUG TAKE BACK DAY?

Drug Take Back Day is part of a national initiative sponsored by the DEA aimed at reducing the risk of prescription drug abuse and keeping our communities safe. By disposing of medications properly, we can prevent potential misuse, accidental poisonings, and environmental contamination.

Participating in Drug Take Back Day is a simple yet powerful way to contribute to a healthier and safer community. It also serves as a reminder for families to regularly check their medicine cabinets and remove any unused medications. Bring your expired or unuse medications to the Laconia Police Department (126 New Salem St, Laconia, NH), no questions asked. Please note, we cannot accept needles, syringes, or other sharps, as well as any hazardous waste. To learn more about how to safely dispose of these materials, please contact us directly.

Help us raise awareness about this event by sharing this information with friends, family, and neighbors. The more we engage our community, the more successful we can be in promoting safe medication disposal.
